Customer comments: I am happy with my corset, I love it! I didnt think I would, but it fits very well and it is comfortable. Also, I love the way my clothes look and fit when I wear it. Boy, It does make a difference! Debra Ball Of all the items in our hands-on collection the Denise
Nadine corsets inspire the most curiosity. Male and female students
alike stand in line for the opportunity to be laced up. They are intrigued
by the physical limitations of corseting and the ability of canvas
and steel to shape the body. Beautifully made and durable, access
to Denise's period correct corsets affords them the chance to truly
experience time and place in history. |

About Victorian Corsets
Corsets and proper
foundation garments are of foremost importance when depicting a character
from any period through history. During the Victorian era, corsets were (and
had been) a fundamental part of a woman's life for centuries. They became
extremely important in achieving the fashionable fitted styles of the time.
Corsets provided a foundation for the highly decorative garments, smoothing
body lines and improving shape. Even as the garment complexities increased,
the fitted lines of the bodice were a constant. Yards upon yards of fabric
and trim were used on a single, form fitting dress.
Social class status was everything in the Victorian era. Morality was of utmost
importance during this time period and clothing became its barometer. The
upper classes believed that costume of the time could be read as easily as
any text. Women were expected to uphold high societal standards, especially
women of the upper classes. The corset offered the binding that implied control.
It is for these reasons that DND Corset Company set out to create corsets that were comfortable, affordable and easily obtainable, in standard sizing. DND Corset Company continually researches actual garments and patterns from the period in order to provide the best reproductions possible. Patterns are based upon original patterns from the period, adapted to the modern body for comfort fit and wear.
